The Genealogical Record, 2024 Winter

The Winter 2024 issue of The Genealogical Record (TGR) is now available to HGF members and non-members. This latest issue may be accessed by clicking on the link above. The current issue will be available until the next issue is published in August 2024.

What you can find in each issue:
In addition to family history stories and a well-documented research article, TGR includes features to keep you abreast of what’s going on in the HGF, as well as state, and national genealogical societies. You will find information about new and continuing members, special projects undertaken by HGF members, helpful hints on genealogical resources and tools, book and media reviews, and more.

Short summaries of two articles that will hopefully whet your curiosity:
Resurrecting a Forgotten Cemetery – Little did she know what she would be drawn into when Marianne Jones set out to find her ancestors’ burial sites. The journey has led to a surprising and challenging effort to honor them in their resting place.

World War I – Doug Greenhill shares his research on a remarkable ancestor, Dorothy Dougherty Greenhill, an extraordinary young woman for the early 1900’s. Her plan to pursue a university degree (a notable path) was altered by the outbreak of World War I. She responded to our country’s need by becoming one of the first women to join the Navy. Read about Dorothy’s service and her life after the military.
