A sugar planters association has been formed, representing $20 million in values.
The two street railway systems have 48 miles of street railway completed, and many more miles under construction. Houston has just finished 54 blocks of street paving of Bois d’Arc wood, “the best wooden pavement known.” There are 21 blocks of gravel paving, thirty feet wide ,and an average depth of fifteen inches, which will be finished in a couple of months. The cost will be $250,000. The sewage system has 15 ¾ miles under contract or finished.
