HGF DNA Interest Group (DIG) – Third-party Tools and Segment Analysis, part 3
April 7 @ 1:15 pm - 3:00 pm
Using Ancestry DNA Results with Third-Party Tools
Bayland Community Center
6400 Bissonnet, Houston
This DIG meeting continues our review of third-party tools used with Ancestry DNA test results. In the last meeting, we reviewed the MedBetterDNA extension for the Chrome web browser and discussed Blaine Bettinger’s new sample Informed Consent and Beneficiary agreements for DNA testing. We then examined several of the GEDMatch DNA tools including
- Are Your Parents Related
- Chromosome browser
In this session we’ll briefly review these tools, and then show how DNA segment data from GEDMatch is used in DNAPainter to group segments and possibly assign them to shared ancestors. We finish by summarizing our results in a McGuire Diagram showing the amounts of shared DNA and family relationships.
Information about the HGF DNA Interest Group (DIG), copies of the slides from the previous session, and annotated references with links to additional DNA resources are given on the HGF web page for the DNA Interest Group.
