HGF DNA Interest Group (DIG) – Using Ancestry’s DNA Segment Data
January 6 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Ancestry DNA – Identifying Genealogical Relationships
with Ancestry’s Segments and Centimorgans
Bayland Community Center
6400 Bissonnet, Houston
The focus of this DIG meeting will be DNA segments and centimorgans and how they can help suggest or confirm family relationships. Some of the standard references for interpreting shared DNA including Blaine Bettinger’s Shared cM Project and the Ancestry DNA Matching White Paper will be reviewed. As time allows, we’ll also explain the process for loading Ancestry raw data into GedMatch and viewing matching DNA segments using the GedMatch Chromosome Browser.
There’s not a room available at Bayland between the HGF General meeting and the DIG meeting so DIG members may wish to go off-site for lunch and then return for the DIG meeting.
Information about the HGF DNA Interest Group (DIG), copies of the slides from the previous session, and annotated references with links to additional DNA resources are given on the HGF web page for the DNA Interest Group.
