DNA Interest Group (DIG) – DNA Problems and Solutions from DIG Members
July 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
DIG Member DNA Solutions and Problems
Bayland Community Center
Houston, TX 77074
After a brief review of recent developments in genetic genealogy, the focus of this Saturday’s session will be on DNA questions, problems, and solutions by DIG members. Doug Greenhill will give us a presentation on “Separating Paternal GEDmatch Matches Using Paternal Cousins”. Doug will explain how he’s used DNA analysis tools including GEDmatch, Ancestry Shared Matches, and DNA GEDCOM with his genealogy research to identify new relatives and ancestors. Family Tree Maker Charts are used to show family relationships. This is a nice example of pulling together DNA and traditional genealogy to solve genealogical problems.
Following Doug, there’s time for several other DIG members to describe the DNA problems they’re trying to solve or relationships they’ve discovered using DNA. Those who have a question or solution they’d be willing to share should let me know. It would be helpful if you could have relevant DNA results and family relationship information along with a description of your problem or solution. You could either bring the material on your laptop or contact me with it and I’ll put it on my laptop.
More information about the meeting may be found at HGF DIG Meeting.
A copy of the presentations from the most recent DIG sessions and other DNA references may be found on the HGF DIG web page.
