General Meeting Minutes November 5, 2016
Bayland Community Center
The meeting was called to order at 10:03 by President Marjorie Lowe. The invocation was given by Andra Vanarsdel. President Lowe led the group in the pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags.
Secretary Glenda Hayes asked the group for any additions or corrections to the September 10, 2016 and October 1, 2016 General Meeting Minutes. There were none. She said that they would be filed as printed.
Treasurer Sharron Newhouse reported that the bank balance was about the same as last month. We had received money for and spent money on the box the lunches for today’s meeting.
Membership Chairman Rae Bryant stated that HGF currently had 183 members. So far, there have been 30 renewals for 2017.
Program Chairman Alan Leeds made the following announcements:
- Marje Harris’ Genealogy Classes will begin in January. There will be six classes. They will be held at the Clayton Library Carriage House. Handouts were on the back table for those interested in registering for the classes.
- There may be a substitute for the December program by Amanda Hayes due to her illness. She is to speak on OUR ANCESTORS AND THE LAW.
- All programs for the rest of the year are still on track.
Program Chairman Alan Leeds welcomed the speaker for this meeting, Diahan Southard, who will be speaking on three topics: GETTING STARTED IN GENETIC GNENEALOGY: A BEGINNER’S GUIDE, 5TIPS TO MAKE SENSE OF YOUR DNA TESTING, and THE COMBINED POWER OF YDNA AND AUTOSOMAL DNA: A CASE STUDY.
At that time, before the program, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn. The motion passed by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned by President Marjorie Lowe.
